H I S T O R Y |
Born into an extremely minor branch of an extremely large noble family, it would seem at first glance that the twins were destined for nothing more than to grow old, have children and die. Aidan, the elder, was to perhaps become a knight, maybe even rise to a position of some value, marry a woman, sire children. And his sister, Nadia, would be married off to some lordling, no doubt, to bear his children and be his obedient wife until she died. And they would go down in history as barely two lines on a page, unremarkable and insignificant. But the way that they lived and died, they felt, ought to be no one else's problem but their own. The world could take its expectations and shove it up a place that would be improper for them to specify. From an early age they both showed a skill for languages, and though Aidan was the only one of them permitted to learn the sword, they often traded places because they were almost indistinguishable from eachother. The years passed, they worked hard, and through many connections, many lies and numerous other things, at only nineteen, the two rose to a position in the king's court, but all the while, only pretending to be one person-- Aidan. To everyone else, Nadia seemed to have disappeared. Rumours spread that she had passed away due to a sickness, perhaps eloped with some low ranking knight, took her own life... The stories were endless, yet none were true. Over the next four years, they spent their time getting closer and closer to the late king, rising higher and higher in court and gaining his trust, telling him of secrets and conspiracies and those who planned treasonous things in the shadows. It wasn't long before they were made "Lord"-- much to the disgust of many of their peers -- and eventually Master of Spies. Seven years later, they have an entire network of spies, spread across the capital (and outside of it, of course) and inside the palace. Not a treasonous word is said, and not one thing is plotted without Aidan and Nadia knowing. Only a few days prior to their journal becoming suddenly connected with several others across the land, they were written to, and informed of their parents' sudden disappearance, with several servants and even some family who were visiting, claiming that they simply vanished before their eyes into thin air. While not particularly troubled by this news -- as whether this was true or not, they would inherit the land that their parents owned, and all of their riches -- they were caught offguard, and surprise was something that they had experienced decidedly little throughout most of their lives. To investigate or not to investigate was the question. They could easily accuse those family members of murder, accuse those servants of aiding them-- but people talk, and they know this better than anyone does. Make a big deal out of it and people will talk, rumours will spread; passed from one person to another, each story more unbelieveable and thrilling and exciting than the last. Each story more horrendously wrong than the last, however amusing these stories may be. So for now, at least, not one soul speaks a word of it, not one soul is accused of any crime and not one soul dares to break their silence. After all, Lord Himelas hears everything. Every whisper and every murmur. |

Lord Aidan is calm in an almost whimsical way, very collected, somewhat cautious and not without a sense of humour. He isn't a difficult person to trust, though people should think better of it, considering his position. Aidan is well spoken, very careful with his words and quite a good liar when he knows that he needs to be. Easily amused and having no reservations about leading people on and manipulating others to do his bidding, Aidan is not a man to be taken lightly. And this is what is projected for all to see, though it isn't far from the truth. Aidan and Nadia have been the "same" person for so long they sometimes forget that they're not. Nadia is "Aidan" in her own head. |

Aidan and Nadia are almost completely identical, and both perfectly androgynous. Beautiful enough to be a woman yet almost far too handsome to be, at the same time. They both have long, lavender hair and hazel eyes, but Aiden is actually slightly taller, a fact that Nadia remedies by wearing, well, slightly higher-heeled boots. They dress finely, as they can afford to look better than half the court does, and very constantly wear black. The clothes that they wear are usually not form fitting for obvious reasons, though Nadia does bind and has a small chest even normally. Nadia has a higher voice but she's all used to lowering it, so that they both sound alike. There are few who bother to notice the difference. They have a soft, light, almost gentle sounding voice with a drawl like silk, but an underlying and undeniably sinister tone to it. [[ |
